Since 2018, Kyle has been involved in the analysis and reconstruction of hundreds of motor vehicle crashes including rollovers, multi-vehicle impacts, motorcycles, heavy trucks and pedestrian impacts throughout the United States. In addition to motor vehicle accidents, Kyle has reconstructed and analyzed a variety of incidents from a biomechanical perspective, which gives him a unique perspective on the cases he investigates. Kyle has substantial experience in analyzing data downloaded from vehicles, incorporating this data along with vehicle-specific parameters and other physical evidence into dynamic vehicle computer simulations to aid in accident reconstruction.

Kyle is a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado. He holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines with a focus in biomechanics and mechatronics. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tulsa in Engineering Physics with an emphasis in dynamic systems. Drawing on his specific training in physics and biomechanics coupled with published scientific research, Kyle is able to analyze a wide range of incidents to quantify forces and assess mechanism and likelihood of injury with respect to widely-accepted biomechanical injury criteria.

Kyle has been a practicing professional since 2008. Prior to joining our company, Kyle worked as a Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for the design and integration of simulated aircraft instruments for commercial, military, and private pilot training. In 2015, he elected to pursue his Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on human biomechanics, which led him to his interest in forensic engineering.

An avid recreational cyclist, skier, and disc golfer, Kyle enjoys the Colorado outdoors. Kyle has a passion for jazz music; so much so that he named his dog after trumpet legend Miles Davis. Kyle is committed to providing an excellent work product, rooted in scientifically sound and ethical analysis, which fits well with the charter of Compass Consulting Engineers.
