As Founder and President of Compass Consulting Engineers, Michael manages all aspects of the business while contributing as one of the company’s top engineers performing various accident reconstruction and related analyses. Since 1997, he has investigated numerous crashes throughout the United States in a myriad of circumstances. Michael specializes in the investigation and reconstruction of highly complex accidents involving all types of vehicles(on and off-road), heavy equipment, bicycles, and pedestrians. Michael has extensive experience providing thorough technical reports on his findings and has provided testimony in support of his investigative work throughout his career.

Michael is a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado and Alabama and passed the ACTAR exam in 1999. He holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University. Michael is certified to download event data from passenger vehicles and heavy trucks. His continuing education in the study of transportation systems and how human, vehicle, and environment interact reinforces his hands-on expertise in accident reconstruction.

Michael has been a practicing engineer since 1990. He began his career performing stress analysis and design of structural elements of applications ranging from experimental industrial structures to large buildings. His in-depth training and experience in structural analysis has provided Michael a solid foundation for the evaluation of vehicle structures and how they interact, deform, and crush.

Mike has lived on the Front Range of Colorado since his first employer moved him to Colorado in 1990. He enjoys woodworking, outdoor activities, and is an avid mountain biker, road cyclist, and motorcyclist. As the founder of Compass Consulting Engineering, Michael has instilled solid values in all the staff members with a key emphasis on honesty, integrity, technical competence, and a strong work ethic.
