Compass Consulting Engineers (CCE) is seeking an experienced accident reconstruction engineer to join our growing, privately-owned forensic consulting firm. We are looking for a technically competent, articulate, detail-oriented engineer with a proven track record, an established client base, and passion for excellence in the accident reconstruction field. We are seeking someone who can:
Function as lead engineer in the investigation and reconstruction of a multitude of vehicle accidents and other complex failure analyses.
Perform detailed analysis of mechanical failures related to product liability, design and safety.
Interface directly with clients, providing technical insights and expertise on their cases.
Conduct thorough vehicle, site, and evidence inspections using state-of-the-art surveying and scanning equipment.
Provide direction to our support staff, overseeing their field and technical work on your investigations.
Work directly with our graphics and animation staff members, when needed, to accurately depict results of accident findings.
Prepare technical reports of scientific findings and conclusions in a clear, easily understandable manner.
Provide expert testimony in depositions and trials, as required.
Travel throughout the United States as required for work assignments and litigation.
CCE utilizes state-of-the-art in-house tools and cutting-edge technology to provide scientifically accurate and defensible analysis required to reconstruct highly complex crashes, including:
FARO 120 and Leica BLK360 Lidar Scanners
Phantom 4 UAVs for scene/vehicle photogrammetry
GPS correction base stations
CAN data & external transducer DAQ system and associated GoPro cams
Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) hardware and software
Standard measurement tools such as force transducers and light meters
HVE Simulation software
3ds MAX Animation software
AutoCAD/AutoDesk tools
Pix4D UAV photogrammetry
Photomodeler
HVEDR–Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Wabco, Bendix
Microsoft Office 365 platform
Required Work Experience, Skills, Education for this Position:
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or physics from accredited university–advanced degree preferred.
Professional Engineering License or equivalent for related degrees.
ACTAR certified.
Minimum of five years of prior experience in forensic and vehicle accident reconstruction.
Experience testifying in deposition and courtroom settings.
History of working independently with clients as primary lead on assigned cases.
Demonstrated ability to provide direction and technical oversight to support personnel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey complex topics in simple terms in reports, depositions, and trial testimony.
Working knowledge of high-end reconstruction tools including HVE simulation software, LIDAR scanners, UAV flight surveys, and EDR downloads.
FAA certified UAV pilot.
Self-directed with a passion for thorough investigation and analysis to provide accurate results.
Heavy Vehicle EDR course(s).
Physical ability to work outdoors, lift up to 50 lbs., and walk, kneel, or squat for prolonged periods of time.
