Daniel Stange

Daniel Stange

Forensic Reconstructionist

Daniel joined our company in 2025 to apply his unique background and impressive breadth of skills to support and grow the Pacific Northwest division of Compass Consulting Engineers. In this role, he contributes to all facets of forensic reconstruction from inspections to analysis to giving expert testimony. Daniel is highly technical, very likeable, and is just as comfortable discussing the ins and outs of drone geofencing as he is speaking to clients or a jury.

Daniel holds both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Physics (University of Alaska, Fairbanks and University of Northern Illinois, respectively), as well as a Master of Science in Law from Northwestern University. Through his extensive education and work experience, he can contribute to a forensic investigation in ways that go beyond LiDAR scans and drone aerial imaging; he is also an expert in the properties, failure mechanisms, and characterization of materials, especially metals. He can operate all the lab equipment you know about and most of the equipment that you have never heard of.

Daniel is an outdoorsman’s outdoorsman, and when he’s not at work, he might be camping, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and grilling – ideally in the same day. He’s more than just a fair-weather nature lover though; when the weather turns, you might find him snowshoeing, winter-off roading, or cross-country skiing, and it could be in California, Alaska, or anywhere in between. When he needs some down time, Daniel builds off-grid cabins and operates heavy equipment. There truly isn’t much that he can’t, and doesn’t, do.
